5 Excuses People Use To Stop Working Out
We’ve all done it. Sat around on the couch and thought of reasons why we just can’t make it to the gym. We’re too busy, we’re too tired, it’s raining. Sometimes the reasons are real, and you really can’t make it to the gym during your regular schedule. The problem with creating excuses for not going to the gym is that eventually you’ll fall into an endless cycle of excuses and before you know it you haven’t been to the gym in months. In order to keep a tight gym regiment and stay fit without falling into the trap of giving up on working out, you need to re-arrange your schedule so that you can continue to work out on a regular schedule.
Here are ten common excuses people use to stop working out, I hope these help deter you from making any of the same excuses.
I’m just too busy! I’ll go tomorrow.
This is probably one of the most common excuses ever used. The problem is that most of the time you don’t end up going the next day and you fall into the trap of completely putting off exercising. If you’re too busy, find a time in the day that you can at least take thirty minutes and spend it doing some cardio.
I’m too tired!
Even I have caught myself using this excuse in the past. However, from experience I’ve noticed that if I actually get off my butt and go to the gym even when I’m feeling tired, five minutes into my cardio I end up feeling awake, refreshed, and ready to work out for hours. The hardest part is actually getting to the gym. Once you’re there, it’s all downhill.
I’m not seeing results!
It’s true that it takes a long time to see results from exercising. But think about it, will you ever see results if you never attempt to exercise? The answer is no. A good way to track your progress is to take monthly pictures of yourself. Over time, you will actually see a change in your body. That is unless you keep coming up with excuses to stay out of the gym and off your exercise routine.
I’m too depressed!
This is an excuse I hear far too often. The truth is that studies have shown exercise to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. An hour in the gym can make you feel better about yourself immediately. It’s also a good way to let off some steam.
I can’t afford it!
If you can’t afford a gym membership it does not mean you should stop working out. There are a ton of ways to stay fit and healthy in your home and around your neighborhood. Spend some time doing physical activities outside. Go for a walk, or a run. Do some push-ups at home. We’ve all seen those exercise tv shows and videos. Spend some time watching one and get some ideas for what you can do, all for free!
Going to the gym and maintaining your fitness and health should be one of your top priorities. There is no excuse to spend at least thirty minutes exercising, even if it means doing it at home.
