Advantages of Using Protein Before and After a Workout
There are several advantages to taking a protein supplement like Whey Protein before and after a workout. First, you must understand that when you are exercising, your body is burning carbohydrates for energy as well as breaking down your muscle tissue. In order to rebuild that broken muscle tissue, your body needs protein, which is the body’s basic building block. Giving your body protein before and after a workout allows for your muscles to rebuild themselves with the protein.
Advantages of Using Protein Before a Workout
The reason I say that it is important to take in some protein before a workout is so that even when you are working out at the gym the protein is already rebuilding torn muscles. Rather than just drinking a protein shake after your workout, try taking a little pre workout, and then a little more after the workout is over. This holds especially true for those of you that are in the gym for over an hour and exercising hard. The best practice would be to take 1 scoop of a Whey Protein shake prior to hitting the gym, and 1-3 scoops of a Whey Protein shake immediately after your workout.

Taking in protein after a workout is much more obvious after knowing that protein helps restore broken muscle tissue. Not only does protein restore the muscle tissue, but it can aid your metabolism by speeding it up which in turn can help you lose weight, and help your muscles grow stronger. The post workout protein intake is the most important. After a long exercise your body needs to be able to rebuild with an outside source of protein. If it doesn’t have this outside source, your body will start tearing down its own muscles for nutrients and eventually you’ll start noticing muslce loss instead of muscle gain.
