Simple Ways to Lose Weight
Weight loss is quite the rage nowadays as more and more people have become well aware of the deleterious effects of obesity. You may make a new-year resolution to lose weight and keep up the diet and exercise regime for a week or two, and you will start relapsing to old patterns of eating. You may also binge and lose all the weight lost in a jiffy and see your new year’s resolution fly out the window.
Here are a few simple ways you can keep to your weight loss plan without relapsing all so soon.
Start small
You cannot start with huge goals and always expect to sustain the enthusiasm over a longer period of time, because this generally requires huge amounts of will power and endurance. What is more feasible is that you start small, maybe with a few walks around the block as part of the exercise regime and a salad dinner every now and then. Once you get used to the new regimen, you can gradually increase the rigorousness of the exercising and the diet. This surely sounds achievable doesn’t it?
Make a mental vision
It is said that the battle against the bulge must first be fought in the mind before it translates into real and tangible wins in the weight loss arena. Try and envision yourself as being fit and slim in your mind. Draw mental pictures of a slimmer you and reinforce this image by positive self talk and motivation. It is said that where the mind goes, the body follows. Hence, bring to the fore and use all the faculties of your mind to help you win the weight loss battle. Be confident that you will win in your mind, and realize that if your resolve gets steeled, half the battle is already won. Again, be sure to avoid all negative and self defeating thoughts and talk as you can take the zing and thrill out of your weight loss program. Positive thinking always helps!
Make a diet diary
What is watched gets measured and what is measured can get reduced. Be sure to start watching what you eat on a daily basis. Maintain a journal and ensure that you record your calorie intake not only for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but also all snacks and post meal desserts or candy consumed. This way you can track your calorie intake and take steps to decrease your food intake. You will be surprised by the level of efficacy of this simple measure.
